Ta hvilket som helst band du vil ut av den mer ekstreme metalskolen og du vil høre at det ligger et glimt av Meshuggah over musikken deres. Dette er ingen overdrivelse. Det er bare slik det er. Bandet har siden oppstarten I 1987 blitt elsket av fansen og ikke minst musikerkollegaer og journalister.
Lead-gitarist Fredrik Thordendahl og vokalist Jens Kidman startet opp Meshuggah, og har nå sammen med Thomas Haake (trommer), Mårten Hagstrøm (rytme-gitar) og Dick Lövgren (bass) skapt et monster som ingen vil stoppe. De satte Meshuggah på kartet med store bokstaver da “Destroy Erase Improve” kom ut I 1995, og da var det ingen vei tilbake. Med sin trilogi med kalkulert deathmetal og brutal progressive thrash (Chaosphere 1998, Nothing 2002, Catch Thirtythree 2005) fant de sin vei ut til bandets fans som bare har vokst på deres gale, polyrytmiske musikalske reise videre.
Med sitt album “obZen” krasjet de rett inn på Billboard-listen I det herrens år 2008, et album som tråklet seg vei inn til et nytt publikum. Klubber over hele verden ble utsolgt av fans som ville få med seg denne fysiske kjeftesmella.
I februar slapp de sitt livealbum “Alive” med dvd, og Norway Rock Festival gleder seg til å høre verdens beste metalband Meshuggah igjen I Kvinesdal.
